SECTOR 2A AT SNOHOMISH CASCADE ASSOCIATION
7 P.M. TUESDAY JANUARY 7, 2014
CALL TO ORDER / PRESENTATION OF MINUTES
- Suzan Miller called the meeting to order at 7:07 P.M. Present were Suzan Miller, Steve Yandl, Nicole Klages, Jim Person and Tim Rizzo.
- Minutes of the December 2013 meeting were presented and unanimously approved.
- Steve Yandl reported that we have $17,841 in checking, $5,691 in operational reserve and $51,717 in the long term capital replacement reserve.
- The CD (long term reserve) matures on January 16 and we have 10 days to make changes prior to the next 6 month maturity. Steve Yandl will be transferring $18,870 to that fund from checking at that time. Although that suggests we finished 2013 about $1,000 short, we still need to invoice homeowners along Snohomish Cascade Drive who didn’t adequately clear their landscaped areas to allow Town and Country Fence to complete fence repairs. Once we collect on those invoices our balance for 2013 will be about 0. In the interim, checks for 2014 annual assessment have already arrived and will soon be deposited so there will be adequate funds in checking to do the transfer and pay all anticipated bills to the HOA.
- Jim Person and Steve Yandl need to get a break in the weather so we can get out and make sure we’re invoicing the correct homeowners for the clearing work done by Town and Country above and beyond fence repairs. Town and Country has already been paid for the work.
- We need to send $350 to PostNet to replenish our running balance for making copies and preparing the newsletter.
- Jim Person had received notification from Skinner regarding a leaning fence post, checked it out and already requested a quote from Town and Country Fence. Quote not yet received but we’ll go ahead with repair once we get it.
- Skinner has done moss control and winter fertilizer.
- Jim Person and Brian Skinner discussed a wet area on the east side of Snohomish Cascade Drive that we’ve looked at in the past. This is likely an issue with sprinkler or pool supply lines on homeowner side but we need to wait for dryer weather to really pin down the source of excess water.
- Jim inquired about who to report street light issues. Steve Yandl explained it was Snohomish PUD #1 unless it’s a light inside Willis Tucker Park.
- We discussed getting a quote from Skinner to replace or repair the timbers around the play chip area for our tot play area on 72nd Drive.
- Steve Yandl reported that he had been contacted by homeowner Dennis Bask regarding policies for allowing a rental. Policies were explained and we most likely will not be getting a request to consider a waiver.
- Several phone calls and emails have been received by homeowners concerned that they were not in compliance with yard maintenance standards (likely in response to the Qtr 1 newsletter article).
- Steve Yandl was able to do the new barcodes required by the Post Office for bulk mail. Since we’re considered a small mailer the address labels with barcodes can be created online so we avoided having to acquire new software.
- Steve Yandl shared that most of the Board of Directors for our neighboring HOA, Snohomish Cascade Homeowners Association (The Falls). Hopefully they get a new group in without too many problems so they’re able to maintain landscaping, fences, etc. which have an impact on our property values as well as their own.
